About me

I am a lifelong resident of Colaba. An alumni of Colaba's historic St Anne's High School, I completed junior college from Sophia, and graduated from St. Xavier College with a Bachelors degree in Sociology, followed by a post graduate diploma in Journalism from Bhavans Chowpatty.

I apportioned most of my work life with NGOs, specifically devoting my career towards social upliftment of women and children, empowering communities in rural Maharashtra.

Over the past couple of years, my life experiences along with my passion to write and teach has ushered me to coach children in creative writing, enabling individuals to grow and develop through the expansion of their own capabilities.

I enrich my life pursuing my love for Indian and Western classical music, curating textiles for exhibitions, still photography, and traveling with my family.

Creative Writing

Dear Parent;

People have an insight into your child’s mind, heart, and soul through their written words. In every field of study, the art of expression through writing makes a child noticeable in this highly competitive environment, giving them an added advantage among their peers.

The craft of creative writing taps deep into your child’s senses and emotions in order to create strong and vivid visuals in the mind of a reader, leaving the reader with emotional intrigue instead of mere facts and information. With creativity in the forefront of its purpose, creative writing invokes your child’s imagination, creativity, and innovation to tell a story with an emotional impact on the reader.

Similar to other skills like painting, music, and dance, writing creatively needs years of work and practice in order to be good at it – the more your child works at it the better they get. The craft of creative writing improves your child’s vocabulary and also makes them better speakers, thus giving them a sense of confidence and improved self-esteem. They learn to articulate complex thoughts and concepts in clear concise manner.

You might ask: Why should I invest in my child’s creative writing skills? Much like other skills, with creative writing; the more your child practices, the stronger they become in it. Similar to any creative endeavor, to get good at creative writing your child needs years of exercise and practice. Learning the skills early on in life helps your child navigate through their schooling and university with confidence. You are investing to provide a better future for your child.

These skills will help them tackle entrance exams into Indian (NEET, JEE) and international universities (SAT, ACT, AP, IB, TOFEL, IELTS), as well as post graduate entrance exams such as ATMA, GATE, GRE, and GMAT among others. An average Western university requires three to four original essays to be submitted with an application, something your child will be writing with confidence. Additionally, as they move into a career, creative writing skills will also help them write good resumes and successful job interviews with confidence and ease.

Service offering include one-on-one as well as small group coaching. I use time proven strategies to nourish your child's creative spirit. Typically, I prefer coaching children in small groups not larger than four peers. The benefits of peer learning are an established fact, it promotes healthy competition and sharing of ideas helps the collective success of the group.

Typically, I hold an one-hour long session once a week over Zoom or on site (during the pandemic).
